Dominic Riley Workshop

I have just finished the books that I partially made in Dominic Riley's workshop a couple of weekends ago.   The structure of the books is called Millimetre Binding and is as Dominic says in his handout,  an elegant, strong, quarter length binding that was developed in Denmark during the 1940's as a response to leather shortages caused by the war.
The first book has a leather spine with teeny tiny leather corners and a graphic top edge.  The cover is one of my eco prints.
The second book has a leather spine and foredge with a wash of acrylic paint on the top edge.  The cover is a paste paper from Joy and John Tonkin.
The third book has leather at the head and tail edges and is called the Rubow style.  The top edge is decorated with acrylic and the cover is again a paste paper from Joy and John Tonkin.

Dominic's patience was beyond belief.  With an enormous amount of help I was able to produce what Dominic classed as an edition.  What would I know? J  All I know is that I had a great time made better by the expert tuition of both Dominic and John Tonkin.  Dominic explained everything very patiently time and time again.  John was enormous help with the leather paring - my first real attempt.
